Ever wonder what a skyscraper and a search engine might have in common? We’re continually curious about the impact our physical world has on our virtual one, and by exploring architectural trends from the early 20th century up to the present day, we attempt to uncover what the history of architecture can tell us about the future of web design.

In this long-form piece I investigate the era of Modernist architecture, the Postmodern movement, and contemporary architecture alongside the last twenty years of web design in order to draw parallels and differences between the two fields that illuminate where the road leads for web design going forward. Moreover, I'll uncover the surrounding social, economic, and technological circumstances surrounding both fields to help us understand where we’re going and where we’ve been.
